About me
My name is Vala and I live in Akureyri, Iceland.
I live with my boyfriend Þórir and our son Patrik (born in 2006).
3 words to describe me would best be daydreamer, birdwatcher & naturelover.
I can spend all day dreaming and thinking, I can watch leaves fall off the tree and follow them to the ground, I can lie in the grass and listen to birds sing for hours.
What inspires me in life are clouds, lava rocks, the sea & coasts, fleamarkets, YARN, nailpolish, smiles, mountains, smell of old books, trees, the wind, lomography, EBAY (hehe), candles, my son and so much more.
I’ve lived in Akureyri all my life and never been out of Iceland so postcards are for now my way of exploring the countries around the globe.
I’m born in ’87 and I’ve absolutely no idea what I wanna do “when I grow up”. I work with disabled people and it’s something that I feel connected with, we are all different and noone should be judged by that.
I collect postcards and stamps and since I registered on postcrossing my collection has grown really fast
To mention other things I collect; yarn, scratched/bend coins, fridge magnets, used books, DVDs, stones, shells & conch….
I started knitting in late 2008 and since then I haven’t stopped. It’s amazing what you can create by only using 2 needles.
I mostly use Icelandic wool Lopi, for 2 main reasons, it’s the cheapest & a wonderful material as well.
Hobbies I have other than stamps, postcards & knitting; are penpaling, photography, hiking, birdwatching, astrology, (Icelandic, but not only) folklore & Norwegian mythology…
I had been wondering if I should start a blog to keep a log on my postcards and finally I decided to just do it and then share these hobbies of mine with others.
I hope you will enjoy it!

I do like the occasional taste of tea
